Legality: an essential ethical value

An open window on the excellence of our territory, positive events in the name of friendship and solidarity, too often overlooked, which contribute to making our Community better. The Lions Clubs, the largest humanitarian organization in the world, present in over 200 countries, follows this ethic: Demonstrate, with the excellence of the works and the diligence of the work, the seriousness of the vocation to service.

Giving the new generations the awareness that a society based on violence, abuse, intolerance is destined to degrade and impoverish until it is exhausted and annihilated: this is the imperative underlying the services that the Lions Club Perugia Host wanted to implement to continue on the path traced by President Letizia Mezzasoma characterized by the motto “The Beauty of Giving”.

The Lions Clubs of Zone IXB of District 108-L presented the Lions Rosa service conceived by the Past President of the L.C. Perugia Host Marco Dottorini to combat gender violence. Aimed in particular at adolescents, it has already seen the collaboration of the Municipality of Perugia, the Psychology Service of the USL Umbria 1 and the involvement of the “G. Bruno” Higher Education Institute. The project activities are based on two pillars: prevention and contrast. Using the peer education strategy, the first intends to dismantle all the stereotypes and prejudices that hinder the awareness that any personal identity has equal dignity regardless of any other consideration; that respect for the value of the person is an essential element. The contrast activity is focused on a dedicated self-defense course managed by experts of the Italian Krav-Maga Federation designed by another Past President of the L.C. Perugia Host: Pino Famà.

The presentation on February 2, 2024 was attended by: Councilor Edi Cicchi who, representing the Municipality, had words of gratitude and appreciation, the President of Zone IX B Antonio Cipiciani pleased to see such great and concrete collaboration between the Area Clubs, the Director of the Collestrada Shopping Center Roberto Lo Duca happy to see the now customary collaboration between the parties confirmed and the President of the L.C. Perugia Host Letizia Mezzasoma who expressed great satisfaction for such an important initiative on such a dramatically current theme that the Club was able to offer to the community.

The presentation of the Service concluded with a demonstration by the masters of the Italian Krav Maga Federation, Mario Benedetti and Altin Qoku who illustrated the behaviors to adopt to face dangerous situations and the possible self-defense techniques in case of aggression.

Legality: an essential ethical value

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, the Sala dei Notari in Perugia listened in eloquent silence to His Excellency the Prefect Armando Gradone who wisely discussed the Constitution, focusing attention on how very few times it calls for respect for the duties of the Citizen, doing so however with astonishing effectiveness and precision.

Prefetto Armando Gradone

Dr. Gradone had previously had flattering words of appreciation for the brief but effective report of the President of the L.C. Perugia Host Letizia Mezzasoma who had offered the many students who had come the metaphor of correct civil living with the well-being of the body linked to the contribution of all cells with their own specific contribution perfectly synchronized.

Let’s talk about the meeting Civic Education: from the Culture of Rights to that of Duties, organized for the Lions Club Perugia Host by Basso Parente, District Representative of the National Service, now in its third edition, which also saw the participation of the Councilor for Culture, Leonardo Varasano, representing the Municipality, the President of Zone IX B Antonio Cipiciani, representing the Governor of District 108L Michele Martella. This was followed by speeches by the Perugia Police Commissioner Dr. Fausto Lamparelli and the former Attorney General Dr. Fausto Cardella, who captivated the many attendees with timely and evocative reports focused on the importance of active participation, correct information, especially aimed at young people, on the shining example of Giovanni Falcone.

Attention remained very high even during the connection with the multiple boxing champion Clemente Russo, currently Technical Director of the Fiamme Azzurre Sports Group [Prison Police Corps] and then the very young Italian boxing champion Nourdinne Amanaa, awarded for his constant and absolute correctness, who struck everyone with the shyness, spontaneity, simplicity and sincerity with which he presented himself very embarrassed at the microphone despite being accompanied by his coach Alessio Gaggioli and introduced by Angelo Biondo, representative of the State Police union.
