Festival of Umbrian Cuisine, the Most Beautiful Villages and Master Craftsmen 4.0.
In the green heart of Italy, between hills that blend with the sky and enchanted villages that tell ancient stories, an initiative arises that promises to make the light of Umbria shine even brighter in the national and international tourist firmament: Umbriamoci is born.
The Umbriamoci social promotion association aims to celebrate and spread Umbrian food and wine, a culinary jewel often underestimated beyond regional borders. Led by a group of passionate teachers and the principal of the Assisi Hotel Institute, the association aims to combine Umbrian gastronomic tradition with innovation and sustainability, promoting slow walks that allow you to discover the beauty and taste of the region in an authentic and environmentally friendly way.
The beating heart of Umbriamoci’s action lies in its commitment to promoting meetings and dialogue between all the actors in the restaurant and tourist accommodation sector. This ambitious goal aims to bring out the unique culinary identity of Umbria, which is far too scattered among many localisms that have prevented the spread of a recognized and recognizable culinary identity even within the regional borders. The goal is to bring together around a table the main protagonists of the Umbrian restaurant offer so that from their expertise, sensitivity and culture, identity dishes can emerge that are capable of characterizing the entire Region and not just its micro-zones.
The challenge is arduous. What do people eat in Umbria? The answer will finally have to become univocal. This does not mean that the micro-zones will cease to be characterized by their typical dishes, on the contrary, the same will be proposed as an additional attractive and distinguishing wealth but within the framework of a Region that has finally elevated to regional dishes what until then have been considered purely territorial.
Thanks to the passion and expertise of its founders, the association acts as a catalyst for ideas and initiatives that can transform Umbria into a tourist destination of excellence, capable of offering authentic and unforgettable experiences. With its commitment to promoting experiential and sustainable tourism, Umbriamoci is proposing the region to become even more of a pearl in the Italian and international panorama, where the traveler becomes an integral part of the culture and landscape he visits.
Starting in 2025, in the month of April of each year, Umbriamoci joins forces with the Umbria Region, the Municipality of Assisi, Coldiretti, Federalberghi, Confcommercio, Associazione Borghi più Belli Umbria, Unpli and numerous other public and private entities to promote the Festival of Umbrian Cuisine, the Most Beautiful Villages and the Master Craftsmen 4.0. A wonderful showcase in which to tell the story of Umbria under three aspects:
1) its most significant dishes that, enhancing the territorial identity, can express the varied, original and unique gastronomic richness;
2) its most beautiful villages capable of offering, alongside the pearls of tourism known throughout the world, a more intimate and emotional dimension;
3) the master craftsmen whose arts, from ceramics to wood, from iron to weaving and from hand embroidery to goldsmithing, have their origins in a distant past but which still today represent a source of wealth, including work, to be enhanced and relaunched. The idea that our children, once they have finished school, can go to a workshop to learn arts and crafts is particularly suggestive.
In an increasingly globalized world, the Umbriamoci social promotion association wants to represent a beacon of authenticity and tradition, an invitation to slow down and savor every moment, every dish, every step along the paths that cross Umbria, a land of history, traditions, emotions and flavors to be discovered.
