Francesco Palladino, the journalist who left from Paciano and was awarded by Montale

The Umbrian journalist collaborates with the major Italian newspapers and is among the supporters of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome.

The journalist and essayist Francesco Palladino was born in Paciano on September 1, 1943. After studying Political Science at La Sapienza University in Rome, in 1962 he began collaborating with Il Tempo, then, in 1964, he attended the Air Force Academy in Pozzuoli and became an officer. In 1965, transferred to the Interforce Air Base of Decimomannu (Cagliari), he held the position of Commander of the Defense sector. In the same year he became a freelance journalist and in 1970 a professional.
In 1967 he wrote for several newspapers: the weekly Vita, the monthly Successo and for Concretezza (Giulio Andreotti’s political magazine); in 1969 he joined the editorial staff of the Rizzoli weekly Oggi where he became a special correspondent and where he followed Italian parliamentary life. He collaborates with the weekly Il Mondo, directed by Arrigo Benedetti, with Il Sole 24 Ore, with Il Messaggero for the economics and stock exchange pages, with Capital and Quattroruote. During the period of maximum activity of the Red Brigades, he collaborates, for relations with the press, with the Minister of Justice Francesco Paolo Bonifacio (1976-79).

Since 2009 he has written for the website of the association Libertà e Giustizia and for the periodical of the Anppia (National Association of Persecuted Italian Anti-Fascist Politicians) L’Antifascista, directed by Antonella Amendola. For more than ten years he has been among the supporters of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome.

 

Francesco Palladino riceve il premio da Eugenio Montale

For the book The cancelled law. The Constitutional Court in Italian society he received from Eugenio Montale the Gold Medal of the President of the Republic (Giovanni Leone) at the Campione d’Italia award in 1977; he is also among the winners of the Ischia International Journalism Award (1984) for the periodicals section. Also worth mentioning is the book If the Pci goes to the government published in 1978.
